Krakow's food scene does not pause for summer. Since March, the city has gained a Swedish-inspired restaurant designed by the studio behind half of Kazimierz's best interiors, a specialty matcha bar in a district that had zero, a multi-concept outdoor food space run by a food blogger, and a Berlin-style kebab chain that crossed the mountains from Wrocław. We counted nine openings worth knowing about, plus a few that have not landed yet.

Already open

Słońce, ul. św. Tomasza 4, Old Town

Modern Polish restaurant, opened early August. Hand-made pierogi in open view, a six-hour guinea fowl broth, full dinner menu from noon to ten. We covered it in detail in our opening-day report.

Serio, ul. Śląska 2, Krowodrza

Opened March 2026. Specialty coffee and matcha in a district that previously had neither. The menu splits between serious espresso (single-origin, pour-over, all the usual signifiers) and playful matcha drinks, including a thing called a P*rnstar Matchini that we are not going to pretend we did not order. Basque cheesecakes in both sweet and savoury versions. Krowodrza needed this.

Yoshi Kitsune, ul. Bożego Ciała 10, Kazimierz

Opened early 2026 in the space that used to be Cwane Wino. Japanese focused: sushi, udon, panko shrimp, bar stools facing the kitchen and a dining room behind. Kazimierz now has a legitimate Japanese option that is not fusion, not ramen-only, and not in a food court.

Ogród KRK, ul. Piłsudskiego 4

The ambitious one. Marek Rusiński (the food blogger behind Maro Kafaro) created a multi-concept outdoor food space with rotating kitchens: Asian street food, smoked trout, roast chicken, Roman-style pizza and specialty coffee, all under one roof and garden. Jazz concerts and exhibitions round it out. An Austrian restaurant from the same team is announced but not yet open.

Ita, Kazimierz (former ZaKładka space)

Balkan flavours and fresh pasta from the team behind NORMA. Chef Dawid Motyka came from A'Bracciate. If you liked what NORMA did with neighbourhood dining, Ita is the sequel with a different accent.

Oyche Doner, ul. Nowa, Kazimierz

Berlin-style vegetable kebab, originally from Wrocław. First Kraków location, on the street that already has the best bar density per metre in the city. The wrap is good, the price is low, and the concept fills a gap that Kazimierz did not know it had.

Poranki (second location), ul. Legionów Piłsudskiego, Podgórze

The popular breakfast restaurant opened a second outpost in Stare Podgórze with a courtyard garden, an interior by NOWW Studio, and a menu that is 95% different from the original. A real second restaurant, not a copy-paste.

Sunja, ul. Kupa, Kazimierz

Korean cafe: butter buns, matcha drinks, a small counter that feels more Seoul side street than Kazimierz. The buns are the draw.

OCAK Tandir, ul. Starowiślna

Turkish kebab with a proper tandoor oven, from the team behind GOGO Burger. Starowiślna continues its quiet transformation into a street with actual food options.

Coming next

Dala Restaurang opens 27 August at ul. Krakowska 35 in Kazimierz. Swedish-inspired, from the team behind Kaffe Bageri Stockholm. Chef Szymon Szczygieł. The interior, designed by studio Znamy Się, has dried wildflowers embedded in the bar counter. Breakfast from 7:30, evening small plates, wine and cocktails. Wallpaper magazine already covered the design. This is the opening most people are watching.

Further out: a Sri Lankan restaurant on ul. Skałeczna (details unconfirmed), Youmiko sushi on Miodowa, Ba'ar craft kebab from the Hamsa team, and The Hoxton hotel on Dolnych Młynów with multiple dining concepts (pushed to the second half of 2027).

Food events through September

The restaurant scene is not the only thing moving. August and early September bring four big outdoor food events to the city:

  • BNP Paribas Green Film Festival food zone, Bulwary Wisłane, 10 to 16 August (our food guide)
  • Festiwal Pierogów, Mały Rynek, 12 to 16 August, daily from 10:00
  • Street Food Polska Festival, Galeria Kazimierz, 23 to 24 August
  • Gastro Miasto Kraków, Bulwar Czerwieński, 28 to 30 August, 120+ vendors, free

We will write full reviews of the openings above as the kitchens settle. If we missed an opening or got something wrong: hello@bitekrakow.com.
