Krakow's specialty coffee map keeps filling in, and the newest pin sits on Mazowiecka: COPPA, a small cafe that has done something most coffee places do not dare, which is to put a dessert on the sign. The full name is COPPA Specialty Coffee and Tiramisu, and the order of those words is the whole idea. The coffee is taken seriously, but the thing they want you to remember, and the thing they specialize in, is the tiramisu. On an early taste it earns the billing: the cream carries a real kogel-mogel note, that beaten yolk and sugar richness Poles grow up on, and it stays on the right side of sweet.

That is a narrow, confident bet for an opening. Krakow has plenty of good flat whites and a short list of decent tiramisu, but very few rooms built around both, asking you to sit down and stay a while. COPPA's own invitation, in Polish, is to come in, settle, and enjoy the moment, which reads less like coffee to go and more like a place you actually sit in. It runs seven days a week, early on weekdays, on the Krowodrza side of the centre.

Specialty coffee Tiramisu Open 7 days Krowodrza

Context for visitors: Mazowiecka runs through Krowodrza, the residential quarter west of the Old Town where rents are lower and the coffee is increasingly good, which is exactly why new specialty spots keep landing here rather than on the Main Square. If you are mapping the wider scene, our specialty coffee guide by neighborhood is the place to start, and COPPA is the kind of opening that earns a spot in it once we have sat down with the tiramisu ourselves.

Have you been yet?

We have had the tiramisu, and it delivers a proper kogel-mogel richness, so this is an early taste, not a cold opening note. There is still no BiteKrakow score on it yet, we save that for a full sit-down with the coffee too. Full review to follow. Been already? Tell us at hello@bitekrakow.com.
