Stary Kleparz has fed Kraków since the Middle Ages, Monday to Saturday, and sleeps on Sundays. On the last three Sundays of the 2026 season it does not. The Art & Food Bazar takes over the covered market at Rynek Kleparski 20 on Sunday 18 October, 15 November and 6 December 2026, from 11:00 to 17:00, with free entry: small kitchens cooking street food and signature plates, coffee, cakes and wine, the series' standing counter of oysters and organic prosecco, a zone of local makers, and live music for the last two hours. It is the one Sunday a month when the square is worth a detour, and it sits two minutes from the Barbakan and five from the main station.

This is a service piece, not a review: the bazaar changes its stalls every edition and we are not grading food we have not eaten at this one. What we can do is tell you how it works, what the organisers and the city have announced, and how to build a morning around it with places we do know.

What the bazaar is

A roughly monthly open-air food fair that has run at Stary Kleparz since 2023, on selected weekend days from late spring to early December. The format is simple: stalls from small Kraków kitchens and producers, a mix of hot seasonal dishes, desserts and drinks that the organisers say covers all diets, a standing seafood counter with oysters and prosecco that has become the event's signature, and the "ART" half of the name, local designers selling handmade jewellery, ceramics, decorations, natural cosmetics and candles. From three in the afternoon a band plays until close. Some editions add short cooking workshops. The event is run by an independent team reachable through its Facebook page, where the stall list for each date appears a few days before.

The city's autumn programme for its markets puts the bazaar alongside a children's tasting workshop series at Stary Kleparz on 24 October, 7 and 14 November, and the Mlaskoty food festival on 25 October, which is a different event at a different square, Plac Na Stawach in Salwator. If you are planning around dates, do not mix the two.

How to do the bazaar Sunday properly

  1. Breakfast first, at nine

The stalls open at eleven. Two minutes away, Bruk Cafe at ul. Krótka 1 opens at 9:00 on Sundays and serves breakfast until noon: specialty coffee, matcha, the Basque cheesecake. Eat properly here, then graze at the fair.

  2. Ten o'clock: the walls

Cross the street to the Barbakan and St Florian's Gate, the start of the Royal Route, and loop through the Planty back to the square. You arrive as the first stalls light their burners.

  3. Eleven to one: eat while it is calm

The first two hours are the quiet ones; by two the square is full and the queue at the oyster counter is a social event. Oysters first, then whatever a small kitchen is cooking that you have not seen in a restaurant, then cake and coffee.

  4. Three to five: music, then a drink

Stay for the live set, or walk eight minutes north to Forty Kleparz, the restored fort with a courtyard and cocktails, which closes the day better than the station does.

Our take

Go for the square, not just the stalls. Food fairs come and go; the chance to see Kraków's oldest market full on a Sunday does not.

Stall food at city fairs is priced like stall food everywhere, 25 to 45 zl a plate, and the hits vary by edition. Treat it as a tasting with a view, book nothing, bring a card and a little cash, and let the regular Kleparz guides do the heavy lifting for the meal before and the drink after.
